Students learnt the relationship between friction and force. Static friction magnitude is directly proportional to the normal force magnitude and the roughness between surfaces.

Students were asked to use chopsticks to pick up ice in a minute. It's difficult but here's the trick.

They were given 3 different settings. To pick up:

1. only ice

2. ice that's coated with salt

3. ice coated with soil

Students then wrote down the outcome of their experiment and are able to come out with their own conclusions.
This experiment was done to allow students to experience hands-on importance of friction.

Join in the fun and watch the video to see our young “Scientists” performed their experiment!
