Year 8 students  recently explored separation techniques in a science class through a chromatography test. Chromatography, a widely used method for analyzing mixtures, separated pigments in samples like ink or plant extracts. The process involved placing a sample dot on chromatography paper, which was then dipped into a solvent. As the solvent moved, pigments separated into distinct bands on the paper due to their unique affinities. This hands-on activity provided practical understanding and engaged critical thinking about analytical chemistry principles.
