Students of the Chinese Cultural Club at Sekolah Menengah Rafflesia, Kajang are excited to share the differences between the Chinese and Japanese Tea Ceremony!
The Japanese tea ceremony, known as chanoyu, emphasizes the beauty of simplicity and tranquility. The ceremony is conducted in a carefully prepared space, and the participants follow a strict set of rules. The tea is prepared using powdered green tea, and it is served in small bowls.
The Chinese tea ceremony, known as gong fu cha, is a more relaxed and informal affair. The ceremony is not as strictly defined as chanoyu, and the participants are free to chat and socialize. The tea is prepared using loose-leaf tea, and it is served in larger cups.
The tea ceremony was an enchanting experience that allowed our students to explore the history, traditions, and culture of this ancient ritual.
