This week, Year 4 writers continued to work on their writing. After drafting their fantasy fiction story last week, they revised and edited their writing.

When revising, Year 4 students checked their writing for fantasy features such as fantastical creatures, magical settings and talking plants and animals.

The students looked for opportunities to add similes in their writing and used a thesaurus to replace regular verbs with more powerful ones. Good writers also use their senses to describe the settings in their story, so they revised their writing for descriptive and sensory details about the settings.

In editing, Year 4 young writers checked their writing for correct spelling, punctuation, capitalisation, and verb tenses using a checklist. They even peer-edited their work with a partner!

The last stage in the writing process is publishing and they published their fantastic stories on Google Doc.

The teacher is so proud of them and their work! WELL DONE, Year 4!
