Strawberry DNA Extraction Workshop
Science Week
Our Year 10  biologists of Rafflesia International School, Kajang have once again mesmerised us with their outstanding knowledge and application in Biology as they facilitated a Strawberry DNA Extraction experiment in our very own laboratory. The facilitators have chosen strawberries for this experiment as the strawberry cell contains eight copies of the genome, which makes it easier to extract the DNA as compared to most of the organisms which only have one.

The junior Rafflesians had an eureka moment when they observed the DNA being extracted from the strawberries, as opposed to the popular misconception that DNA cannot be seen through the naked eye! Take a look at some of our bug-eyed students having fun during the informative workshop!
