University Preparation in the UK

Kings UK academic programmes prepare students thoroughly for the rigours of studying at British universities. Our UK colleges are registered as independent schools with the UK Government Department for Education, and have been successfully inspected by Ofsted.

Our students achieve A-level results that are consistently above the UK average, assuring them access to some of the best universities in the world. All of the top 30 universities in the UK have accepted Kings students, including the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London and London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Courses include GCSEs and A-levels, and specially developed courses such as the Advanced Level Foundation, accredited by Edexcel and recognised by leading UK universities. Specialist programmes available in the UK include Foundations in Law, Art, International Business and Tourism.

A-levels

A-levels are widely regarded as the ‘Gold Standard’ qualification for top universities in Britain, and the rest of the world. This prestigious course is internationally acknowledged as evidence of the most demanding and rigorous intellectual training.

  • Lessons per week: 20–25 hours (plus homework and private study)
  • Class size: 4–10
  • Entry requirements: Completed 10 years of schooling / IELTS 5.5 / Minimum age 16

Advanced Level Foundation

The Advanced Level Foundation is based on the A-level syllabuses, taught by A-level teachers, and moderated by an independent Advisory Board of external examiners. As such, it is one of the most highly academic and successful pathways to the UK’s leading universities.
Our programmes are flexible so that we can accommodate each of our student’s needs and better help them achieve their goals.

Art Foundation

This course is for students who have artistic and creative ability and want the most direct path to an Art and Design-related degree course at a UK university.

  • Class size: 8–12
  • Entry requirements: Completed 11–12 years of schooling / IELTS 5.0 / Minimum age 17

Law Foundation

For those who want a fast, direct path to an undergraduate course in Law at one of the leading universities in the UK.

  • Length: 3 terms
  • Lessons per week: Average 21 hours (plus homework and private study)
  • Class size: 8–12
  • Entry requirements: Completed 11–12 years of schooling / IELTS 5.5 / Minimum age 17

Tourism and Hospitality Management Foundation

This is a practical, one-year course which offers a direct pathway to undergraduate degree courses related to Hospitality and Tourism.

The course is run in partnership with the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH), one of the world’s leading professional bodies in the Tourism and Hospitality industry. Kings Bournemouth is an accredited Delivery Centre for CTH programmes.

  • Location: Bournemouth
  • Length: 3 terms (standard version) / 2 terms (accelerated version)
  • Lessons per week: 21–25 hours (plus extensive private study)
  • Class size: 10–14
  • Entry requirements: Completed 11–12 years of schooling / IELTS 4.5 (3-term course) 5.5 (2-term course) / Minimum age 17

International Business Foundation

The Foundation is ideal for students who want either a recognised, stand-alone business qualification or are intending to use it to progress to a university degree course specifically focused on business or management.

  • Length: 3–5 terms depending on language level
  • Lessons per week: Average 21 hours (plus homework and private study)
  • Class size: 10–14
  • Entry requirements: Completed 11–12 years of schooling / IELTS 4.5 (3-term course) / Minimum age 17

Students who do not yet have the required level of English are able to take extra terms of academic English tuition prior to starting their main academic course.
