CCA | SD-HAT CHALLENGE

As the excitement of school reopening finally dawns upon the young ones, our SD-HAT Challenge has come to an end and they are ready to put them on once they are back at school. Our Sport Houses – Tiger (Orange), Phoenix (Blue), Qilin (Green) and Dragon (Yellow) – have had tremendous fun with the e-competition and have each collected lots of house points. It is a fun way to ease them into the new normal with social distancing.

Stay safe everybody!

Young Artists | Mural Art CCA

Our Online Mural Art CCA students at Rafflesia International School Kajang are very excited to be returning to school next week. In fact, our young artists have each produced their own pieces of art in celebration of their return to school! We look forward to having them back at school and nurturing their creative skills as we move on with the new normal.

Welcome Back, Nursery, Reception and Year 11 Students!

It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome our Nursery, Reception and Year 11 students back to the Rafflesia International School Kajang campus today! With social distancing measures in place, increased sanitisation routines and regular briefings for our students, our community feels a little different – however, our ‘new normality’ has not prevented our enduring passion for learning! At each end of the age range, we have been impressed by the ways our amazing students have adapted to the new routines.

All About Water | An IPC Lesson

Here are our Year 1 students of Rafflesia International School Puchong and their mesmerising creations as part of their IPC entry point themed: All About Water. It was a fun and engaging way to learn about the importance of water in our daily lives through activities such as M&M rainbows, Water Arrow and density using oil and water.

Literacy in Action | Accidents

Young, yet confident and well-spoken, our safety advocate, Dhiya Puteri Shafana binti Mohammad Annuar from Std 6 of Sekolah Rendah Rafflesia Puchong (SRRP) shares her thoughts and experience on accidents in this short clip.

Our Young Artists

At Rafflesia International School, Kajang, our Primary artists have been exploring a palette of new artistic techniques. Inspired by a range of different artists, styles and themes, students have developed their abilities to use colour, shade, contours and tones to achieve different effects. Some of our talented artists will exhibit their pieces in the virtual gallery of masterpieces produced by students from all the Rafflesia schools at the Rafflesia Online Art Exhibition in July.

Visual Arts | Composition # 2

Visual Arts students from Form 2, Sekolah Menengah Rafflesia Kajang, were tasked to arrange the visual elements of the landscape based on the principles of composition (Unity, Variety & Harmony). Learning the skills in art composition will enable them to communicate their concepts and ideas effectively. Our talented students managed to display their showcase their skills through these impressive works of art.

Happy Father’s Day!

Here’s what our students and Sekolah Rendah Rafflesia has specially prepared for their fathers, to thank them and shower them with love this Father’s Day. They made greeting cards in various colours and symbolic shapes, tried dressing up like them and treated them to a special meal – the famous SRR sandwich. Sekolah Rendah Rafflesia wishes all fathers a “Happy Father’s Day!”. Thank you for being the greatest and we love you!

An Unconventional Lesson in Accounting

Online Learning at Rafflesia offers unique learning opportunities for our students, providing them with a means of participating in online activities such as games and quizzes. Our students at Sekolah Menengah Rafflesia Puchong, for example, are seen here learning accounting through active participation that both contributes to the class discussion while honing their problem solving skills through engaging role playing sessions.

Alumni Adventures

We are always delighted to hear from our former students. Andrea Peter graduated from Rafflesia International School Kajang in 2019, achieving 8 IGCSEs, including 4 at A*. During her time with us, Andrea developed excellent leadership skills through her active involvement in co-curricular activities, as being captain of Phoenix House, which she led to victory in the school’s swimming gala. Here is Andrea’s story of her achievements since she left Rafflesia.

“My name is Andrea Peter, former student at Rafflesia. This July would mark one year since I graduated from high school. Since then, I’ve travelled to many different countries, made new friends, learned new skills and discovered so much more about myself. I’ve also recently been accepted into the University of Mary, North Dakota, USA to pursue Clinical Psychology this fall. I am the first Malaysian to be accepted into the University.

Ever since I was 15 years old, I was certain that Psychology was the field I wanted to be in. Apart from getting accepted into UMary, I’ve also received two scholarships. The first scholarship was attained due to my academic performances. I obtained the second scholarship by participating in a competition the university hosted. 39 students participated and I was the only international student to take part. I managed to win 2nd place out of four winners. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would qualify for a scholarship, let alone two.

None of this would’ve have been possible without hard work, the support from family and friends and the education and opportunities that I received at Rafflesia. Some of the greatest memories I have were made with my friends within the walls of this school. From lunch time catch-up sessions to playing netball. Studying at Rafflesia contributed greatly in shaping me into the person I am today. It is an honour to have once been a part of Rafflesia. Even though things are uncertain now, I am still very grateful for all that I have been blessed with. I’m truly excited to begin my life at UMary. I am hopeful that everything will fall into place. It’s definitely going to be an interesting journey!”
